About this workshop
This interactive workshop will explore the different types of motions used in parliamentary debating, including policy, value, comparative, and actor-based motions.
Participants will learn how to identify the specific burdens placed on Proposition and Opposition, interpret motions accurately, and understand what each side needs to establish to win a debate.
Through practical examples, motion analysis, and interactive exercises, students will practise identifying burdens, avoiding common mistakes in framing, and developing arguments that directly respond to the motion.
The session is suitable for beginner and intermediate debaters who want to improve their motion analysis, case preparation, and overall debating skills.
