About VersyTalks
VersyTalks exists to give debaters more opportunities to compete, more purposeful ways to practise and a clearer path to improvement — wherever they live and however often they can attend tournaments.
Find appropriately matched opponents, sharpen specific skills, work with experienced coaches, prepare with your team and build a competitive record that reflects the work you put in.
Choose where you want to begin. You will be able to access the entire ecosystem later.
VersyTalks is an online competitive debate platform built for debaters, coaches, debate teams, clubs and academies. It brings opponent matching, targeted debate drills, coaching and evaluations, team preparation, recurring competitions such as Debater of the Month, and an open debate forum together in one ecosystem, so debaters can keep competing and improving between tournaments.
Between tournaments
Debate rewards repetition. You improve by testing cases, facing real opposition, making strategic decisions under pressure and understanding what worked afterwards.
But serious practice can be difficult to access. Tournaments happen occasionally. Teams follow fixed schedules. The right practice partner is not always available. Useful coaching can be difficult to find, and strong work often disappears after the round ends.
VersyTalks is being built to close that gap.
It gives debaters one place to find opponents, practise specific skills, access coaching, prepare with their teams and continue improving between competitions.
The tournament should not be the only place where serious debate happens.
What drives us
Our mission is to create an online environment where debaters can compete more often, prepare more deliberately and receive feedback that helps them become harder to beat.
That means creating more than content to consume. Every part of VersyTalks should lead towards meaningful action: entering a round, completing a drill, meeting an opponent, working with a coach or applying a lesson in the next debate.
Everything connects

Open the forumDebaters first
Not every debater comes to VersyTalks for the same reason.
Some want to prepare for a major tournament. Some need more live repetitions. Some are searching for a coach. Others want to improve one specific skill, manage a team or simply debate an interesting motion.
When you enter the VersyTalks ecosystem, you choose what you want to accomplish first. Your dashboard then prioritises the tools and experiences most relevant to that goal.
That first choice does not limit you. Coaching, matching, drills, teams, competitions and the open forum remain part of the wider ecosystem and can be accessed as they become relevant to you.
Choose two or three ways you would like to start.
These personalise your dashboard. Everything else stays available from the navigation.
Matching matters
In developmentUseful practice requires more than placing two random people in the same call.
VersyTalks takes matching seriously. We consider information such as experience level, debate format, availability, language and practice objectives to help debaters find opponents who make sense for them.
Debaters can request a match, create a practice lobby or apply to join another debater’s session. The objective is simple: spend less time searching for practice and more time actually debating.
Opponent matching is still being built. Ask to be notified and we will tell you the moment it opens.
Make every round count
A result is useful, but improvement requires understanding what produced it.
VersyTalks connects competition with deliberate practice. After a round, debaters can return to targeted drills, review recordings and transcripts when available, work with a coach or focus on a specific lesson before competing again.
The goal is not simply to accumulate activity. It is to make each round improve the next one.
Work on a targeted skill, case or strategy.
Face a real opponent in a structured round.
Examine the result, recording, transcript or feedback.
Choose one clear area to strengthen.
Apply that lesson in the next round.
Your debate HQ
Your VersyTalks dashboard brings your debate activity together.
Start drills, manage matches, explore debate lobbies, access coaching, review recordings, use your credits, prepare with your team or enter the open forum — all from one place.
Over time, the dashboard becomes more than a navigation tool. It becomes your competitive record: the rounds you entered, the skills you practised, the feedback you received and the progress you made.

A stronger debate world
VersyTalks is built first for active and aspiring debaters:
We also build for coaches, judges, team administrators, clubs and academies. Their experience, feedback and organisation strengthen the competitive environment around every debater.
The debater’s improvement remains at the centre of every product decision.
Our principles
Theory matters, but debate skills become reliable through repeated application against real opposition.
A round becomes more valuable when it reveals what a debater should keep, change or practise next.
A useful practice partner should reflect the debater’s level, format, availability and objectives.
Geography, tournament schedules and school resources should not determine who can receive quality coaching.
Strong reasoning, consistent practice, improvement and competitive performance deserve to be visible.
VersyTalks should only promote experiences that are genuinely available and ready to help debaters.
VersyTalks is designed to complement coaches, clubs, academies, schools and tournaments — not replace them.
Built for progress
VersyTalks began with an open debate community, and that experience remains part of the platform. Debaters can still explore motions, publish arguments, encounter new perspectives and debate for the fun of it.
But VersyTalks is no longer defined by the forum.
The wider ecosystem is designed to help debaters act on their ambition: find an opponent, complete a drill, receive coaching, prepare with a team, compete and return stronger.
The forum is a place to explore and practise publicly. The purpose of VersyTalks is progress.
Where we are going
We want to build the global competitive home for debate: a place where a beginner can take a first serious step, an experienced debater can find the next challenge and every participant can access more opportunities to practise.
A place where opponents are easier to find, coaching is easier to access, preparation is more deliberate and meaningful work becomes part of a visible competitive record.
Ultimately, VersyTalks should make serious debate practice available to anyone with the ambition to improve.
