Should rodent birth control contraceptives replace traditional lethal rodent traps?

There's been a rise of concern with traditional mouse traps. Many people have deemed snap traps, glue traps, and poison unethical and even ineffective as studies have shown that surviving rodents breed faster when a few members of their nests are killed. There is also a cause of concern with non-target animals and even human children getting sick or injured by these traps. Rodent contraceptives have been proven to reduce rodent populations greatly without harming existing rodents or harming predators that eat them.
