Location-sharing technology has made it increasingly easy for parents to monitor where their adult children are in real time. Apps such as Find My and Life360 allow families to share location data, sometimes continuously and sometimes only in specific circumstances. While some families view this as a practical safety measure, questions arise around consent, privacy, independence and the boundaries of parental involvement after a child reaches adulthood. Should parents retain access to their adult children's location if they believe it is in their best interest, or should adulthood establish a clear boundary around this kind of monitoring?
