These labels seem to have become popular for their rhetorical appeal. Who could possibly be categorically against life or choice? The labels often derail conversations into clarifying the context of being pro-life or pro-choice. Those in the pro-life camp are rarely opposed to ending life in all contexts, plant or animal death for food, self-defense and war, or the death penalty. Likewise, those in the pro-choice camp may not be anarchists opposed to all restrictions on personal choice. The labels do at least align with the moral concerns: the pre-born child's life v. mother's bodily autonomy.
