I'm only against it because of the term "divine punishment". What "keeps people in check" from religion is not just that. Even the law proves that just punishments for crimes don't stop those crimes. There're rewards and fulfillment from doing things a certain way and not another way. The guidance religion gives is way more valuable than the promised "punishments" and "rewards". Religion is often reduced to "hell" and "paradise" but its best gift to humanity is day-to-day meaning, fulfillment, and purpose. Christianity's 2000+ year-old teachings are still proven right to this day. Nothing or no one else comes close.

yes that is true and the idea of getting away with things with no consequence is exactly why we should be so concerned for our country. All most normal people want is to have a job that allows them to put food on the table at home and a roof over there families head and good personal relationships. They don't want to worry about safety but a lack of protection for those who deserve that protection is making people think they cant build lives of substance and value in this country.
