How Debater of the Month Works (Quick Guide)

  1. Join eligible debates. Look for debates marked “DotM eligible” or in the DotM tab. Anything you debate there counts toward the competition.
  2. Earn votes. When people like your arguments or replies, you earn votes. Replies become votable after 3 messages.
  3. Reach the Top 20. At the end of the month, the 20 debaters with the most votes move to the judging stage. Minimum requirement: 15 total contributions (arguments, feedback, or replies).
  4. Judging stage. Real judges (debate coaches & educators) select 3-6 extra winners from the Top 20 based on clarity, logic, evidence, creativity, and respectful engagement.
  5. Win prizes. Top 5 automatically earn $10 each. Judges award the remaining prize pool to 3-6 standout debaters (including possible repeats from the Top 5).
  6. Get featured. Winners may appear on the home page, newsletter, and social media.
